JojoBang Friday #1: General Information
Apr. 19th, 2013 03:20 pmYes, I plan to update this community every Friday, either with deadlines or just update/check in posts, because I too have missed Jojo Fridays. Consider it a tiny way to fill the void before the release of All Star Battle and/or the Stardust Crusaders anime!
WHAT IS THIS?
A Big Bang/Reverse Bang captures the same idea in two forms: creators of one kind of fan work inspire creators of another, and these paired works are released all together in a "bang" of sudden fandom activity. In a Big Bang, writers create fanfics, and artists illustrate them; in a Reverse Bang, artists create fanart, which inspire writers to write. It encourages collaboration between writers and artists, gives people deadlines to work on fan works, and results in a beautiful lovely pile of fanwork all at once! Everyone wins!
The results are in: people wanted a Reverse Bang for the first challenge. Future challenges will most likely alternate back and forth between standard and reverse forms, depending on community interest.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING:
All times are as my computer says here in New York City (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC -4). Generally, expect posts (signups, check in posts, summaries/previews, assignments, final work posts) to be posted on Fridays, and for due dates to be Thursday nights (so I can have Thursday night/Friday morning to prepare posts dependent on what people hand in).

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING:
- GET A DREAMWIDTH ACCOUNT if you don't already have one! You don't have to use it for anything else if you don't want to, but having everyone here is ideal. I'll try to post regularly on Tumblr for major deadlines, but seriously, this is best. You can even get an RSS feed for this community if that's what you prefer. (Or just come every Friday.)
- JOIN THE COMMUNITY. There's a link on the profile page. As stated, works will be kept secret from the public until final reveals; there is one point where participants will see summaries/previews that are not meant for public consumption.
VOTE: Writers First (Big Bang) or Artists First (Reverse Bang)? It's okay to not have a preference! If this is successful, we may reverse the decision for the next challenge, so don't worry :3 Please post your vote in the community, even if you've already stated it on Tumblr; it's easiest to keep everything in one place.- Start thinking of which you'd rather do (write or draw) and what you want to create if you go first. Remember, works must be at least 5000 words for writers or fully completed, colored, and shaded for artists - and keep in mind that whatever you create should be able to inspire someone else!
- OPTIONAL #1: HELP SPREAD THE WORD! Tell all of your Jojo fan friends that this is happening! The more people we have, the more successful this will be, and the more diverse and wonderful fan works we will get!
- OPTIONAL #2: CREATE GRAPHICS AND OTHER PRETTIES! I'd love a banner for this community to spread around on here and Tumblr - if you've got a great one up your sleeve just comment! Even better, if you know CSS and can make a theme for this community, let me know! My only request is that you try to keep it as part-neutral as possible: we will accept prompts from all eight parts of the manga.
OPTIONAL #3: CONSIDER JOINING ME IN MODERATING! I thiiiiiink I can do this, but it is my first time running such a contest (though I've run other Livejournal/Dreamwidth communities under different names), and I'm all writing, no art. If you have insight into such things, drop me a line!EDIT: Thank you to
onepixeljumpman for stepping in!
